This is a picture I took in the Synagogue in Budapest. It's a small memorial to the Hungarian Jews who were killed in the Holocaust. Notice all the little rocks decorating the memorial. Traditionally people didn't find flowers appropriate so rocks and pebbles are used to show respect.

Wow. I found your thoughts on Aschwitz particularly moving, especially the personalization aspect of, "And what if it had been me...?"
That was an important visit to make.
